Tadalis SX 20 is an oral medication by Ajanta Pharma. The drugs active ingredient is a substance called Tadalafil (normally named Cialis). Tadalafil is a drug with a long duration of action which is used to effectively treat male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction).
Mechanism of action
When a man becomes sexually aroused, a chemical is released into the penis called nitric oxide (NO). This chemical is important for producing cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which contracts and dilates blood vessels in the body. The higher amount of cGMP that is produced, the more easily blood flows throughout certain parts of the body including the penis. Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) however is the enzyme responsible for causing low cGMP production.
Tadalafil belongs to a group of drugs called phosphodiesterase inhibitors and works by reducing the action of the enzyme PDE5 which affects cGMP production. This means that Tadalafil increases cGMP production and more blood will flow to the penis causing a harder erection.
Recommendations for use
Tadalafil tablets are taken orally and with plenty of water (do not chew them or take them with alcohol). The recommended dose of the drug is 20mg (1 tablet) within a 24-hour time frame. This should be 30-45 minutes before any planned sexual activity in order to gain the maximum benefits from the drug. The effects of Tadalafil will last for a duration of up to 36 hours.
